Congratulations to Rewound and Myth for taking out the titles for the Champions of CFL.
First round:
The map was cp_labor and the first 12 teams played it out and the general consensus was that labor was too compact and easy to lock down 2nd, which have been the typical arguments over the past year against it’s use.
Second round:
The map cp_boulder_v2 and a lot of teams were excited for this map but after playing it realised that it was too big for a 6’s format and the game play was not as good as it was anticipated.
Third round:
The map was cp_fallout. Not many people had heard of this map. This map was played on cevo at the start of the year and has a different theme to it, designed with three points any of which can be capped at anytime. This made for an interesting high scoring game, with diverse and dynamic tactics. The general consensus was that some players thought it was a nice fresh change, despite the overpowered potential of a good sniper.
Fourth Round:
The map was cp_arnold and the reason why we chose this map was we were trying to find a map that was similar to gravelpit that no one has heard of. A few people enjoyed the map but most thought it was average to bad. The main let down of the map was the final point and how red spawn was setup but point A and B made for some interesting fights.
Fifth Round:
The map was cp_freight. This map had great potential and lived up to its name when being played. Almost every player enjoyed the map, even more so than fallout. The only thing that players didn’t like was the final point with the trains, which can directly impede ground access to the control point.
I have posted a thread asking players to rank their favorite map from the best map to the worst and if they have anytime, the reasons why. http://www.ozfortress.com/showthread.php?t=29123 The more feedback the better it is. The statements about the 5 maps above are from the responses that I have heard.
With Season 1 of CFL coming to a close some players have asked when season 2 will start. At this stage we have no idea when season 2 might occur. We have to wait for more and new exciting maps to be created or find maps that have potential. Until then I have created a Steam Group which organises Custom Fortress Pugs. Lately we have been play cp_freight and cp_fallout. We also test the odd map out to see how it plays and are open to any map suggestions players wish to try. Ask someone who is in the group to invite you if you’re interested in joining into the pug action.
I’d like to thank all the teams who played, tested and enjoyed the custom maps especially those who played out the whole season or agreed to enter late preventing unwanted byes. Until next time, happy pugging CFL players.

With the recent discussions with-in the community about players accused of hacking we have created a new method for people to submit this information to the admin team. The aim of this new process is to present data for the admin team to investigate further, cheats or exploits. We definitely frown on publicly accusing players or smearing their name online through our website and hope this new method will give an avenue to efficiently and securely raise cocerns.
A new Review Panel has been formed with wolfeh representing the admin team. The structure of the Panel includes key players who have been nominated for their opinion and expertise.
I welcome the new team consisting of wolfeh, povohat (pvh), fireslide and solus. Each of these players offering a higher understanding of the game from their many years of experience with online gaming.
More details to come on how to submit evidence to this Panel at a later time. Special thanks to the above players who have all agreed to help the community in this way.
On the topic of recent alligations brought against angelessme, we reviewed the accusations and read what the community had to say on the matter. Naturally being such a diverse environment there would be different levels of views.
After careful discussions on the matter we have decided to impose a player & team probation on angelessme for all future games in ozfortress. For more information please see the rules (4F) or contact a league administrator.
It's almost the holiday season and with everyone being met with other obligations we have decided to schedule a round extension to cater for this. Games will resume in the new year with the map rotation almost over.
The CFL competition is also drawing to a close with round 5 being the final round. Not everyone is a fan of custom maps which is ok, some of our players do enjoy playing on different maps and it can be alot of fun.
Big thank you to all the teams who participated in this and also Aragon & No Mercy who did a great job organising it. Would like to see these maps in the next map rotation and will be most interested to hear reviews from the participants of CFL.
Over the past few weeks we have been busy working on the new Ultiduo competition, this has been coming along nicely.
One new improvement this year will be the a new map created by OnionS which will be used for competition. Some of us have already beta tested the map and i'm sure most of you will be impressed at the mechanisms we have highlighted in this new map.
No set date has been decided for the Ultiduo but it definitely will be in the new year. We have discussed alot of the logistics of it and it's shaping up to be a great event this time!
In the coming year we are keen to try out an arena comp. This will be the first run here in Australia and for ozfortress. If you have any suggestions for this we'd love to hear from you either here or on IRC.
The iPGN pug bots will be operational right through the break with bot #tf2pug and #tf2pug2 now active.
On behalf of ozfortress.com we wish you all the best this season, enjoy spending time with whoever it is that you do your thing with.

ozfortress is in the midst of planning for some future moves of hosting providers to bring our website back to Australian soil. The actual switch over should take less than an hour, however, due to the size of mediacentrals data storage, we are unable to complete the move of all 42GB of user data at the same time.
This basically means that mediacentral items that are older than 1 month will not be available for the forseeable future once the move has been completed. It is currently unknown how long it will take to complete the move of all our data but I'm guessing it could take up till 4 or 5 weeks after the move. Im not prepared to waste 42GB of bandwidth in our first month on our new host so it will be sent on a hard disk via snail mail.
Just a quick note that ozfortress supports GetUp's 'Save The Net' campaign. If you havent already, check it out and sign the petition (with over 75,000 signatures so far!) here: http://www.getup.org.au/campaign/SaveTheNet/442
For the short term, we will be displaying the GetUp advertisement on our front page, even though it looks entirely out of place!
